How a Bride & Groom can Personalize their big day
“It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.”
A quote I found by John Wooden.
And this could not be more true for weddings. A wedding is simple right? A ceremony & reception - piece of cake. How many have we been to or seen on TV - it’s the same format every time. When you think back on what makes a wedding great vs. tragic -and I know you’ve all been to one - even though you will never admit it to the person whose wedding it was.
The things that made that wedding great were the details - the things that were important to the Bride & Groom that they wanted to share.
I have a perfect example of this - I had a wedding on NYE that was so jam backed with details I don’t even know if I can remember them all. But the major ones were these.
Monogram - On the cake, gobo, aisle runner & ice sculpture
The lace from the brides dress - in the monogram, cake detailing and ice sculpture, invitation.
Specialty drink - her father’s fave - Side car - served at cocktail hour - with A NY Times article written by her father describing the reemergence of this forgotten cocktail
Yellow Roses - Father’s fave - who was no longer with us - as a symbol of remembrance.
Rum Cake - Grandma’s fave - who was no longer with us and a sign on the cake table describing the significance.
Plan your wedding around one of your hobbies:
Ex: travelers - they used a world map as sign in and had everyone sign the mat around the map. and they used luggage tags as the favor/place card
You can consider using a name:
I had a client whose theme was focused around the Brides name: Rose - Married in The rose garden at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, used roses as their main flower, sign in tables had rose pens, rose gobo on the dance floor.
Special things you like to do:
I had one client who every Friday night went to the movies with her fiancee. Since it was such an integral part of their relationship we built the reception around “A Night at the Movies” each table was named after one of their favorite movies - we labeled old movie reel canisters with the title of the movie to act as the table name display. We even created a concession stand at cocktail hour.
As you can see there are many ways to personalize your day - the most important thing is once you've decided how your want to personalize your event, GO for it! Remember your guests will remember the details.

Karma Goddess Joins the Technical Age
Well, I have to say I may be an expert at planning events but keeping up on the tech stuff - well that is another story.
So those of you reading this - welcome to my first post and thank you for reading. I hope that you will all follow in the next coming weeks as we start to add our past events, our recently engaged, the latest trends and a feature I call Karma To Go - it will be a burst of Good Karma to start your day.
